MOM TALK: NURSERY DIY! I NEON DOTS

I wanted to do a series helping out those future mom-to-be's out there, so for my first post for this series, I wanted to do a DIY for your baby's nursery. The first DIY's are for a boy, and the last five DIY's are for a girl, so let's get started!

BOY:

1) DIY ANIMAL SILHOUETTE

•Green/blue paper
•Frame
•Printed paper
•Mod podge
•Sponge brush

Take the back of your frame and measure the lengths, and cut out your printed paper to the size of the back of the frame, and print out the shape of an animal, and trace it on the back of a plain piece of paper, and coat the back of the animal with mod podge and stick it against the paper, and coat that with mod podge, and glue the bigger paper to the back of the frame.

2) BLACK BOARD

•Black board paint
•Long piece of wood
•Chalk

Coat your piece of wood with the black board paint, and let that dry for several hours or overnight, and write anything you want with your chalk.

3) CRAYON LETTER

•Blue, yellow, and green crayons
•Frame/shadow box
•White piece of paper
•Ruler
•Scissors
•Sharpie
•Glue gun

Take your piece of paper and measure it so that it will fit the back of the frame/shadow box and cut some pieces of crayon to fit the letter that you want, and glue the pieces of crayon onto the back of the paper with the glue gun, and glue the paper to the back of the frame once you're done, also, don't forget to write the name next to the letter.

4) DINOSAUR BOOK ENDS

•Blue/green paints
•Paint brush
•Plastic dinosaur figures
•White paint
•Wooden shapes of an "L" or pre made book ends

Paint the dinosaur figures with the blue or green paint, and glue it to the book ends, which you should also paint to the end of the book end.

5) COAT HANGER

•Animal figures
•Red paint
•White wooden board
•Paint brush
•Glue gun
•Knife

Paint your figures with red paint and once that dries, cut off the ends so that you have a flat surface, and glue that to the white wooden board, maybe two inches apart from each other, and hang up the white wooden board.

GIRL:

1) HEADBAND HOLDER

•Printed paper
•Ruler
•Scissors
•Mod Podge
•Sponge brush
•Big can
•Pink paint
•Candle holder
•Glue gun

Measure the length of the can and cut that same measurement out onto the paper, and mod podge that onto the can, and once that dries, put a coat of mod podge on the paper to seal the edges. Then, paint or you can even spray paint the candle holder with pink paint, let that dry, and glue the can to the candle holder with your glue gun.

2) LETTER HEADBAND GIFT

•Letter
•Bright blue paint
•Headband
•Paint brush

Paint the letter, and let that dry, and you can put the headband across the letter, so it's a gift the parents receiving it can use it as room decor, and have their little girl wear the headband.

3) HEXAGON DECOR

•Gold, grey, and black paper
•Hexagon whole puncher
•Canvas
•Mod Podge
•Sponge brush

Punch out the hexagon shapes, and put those on the canvas, lay them out on the canvas, and glue them one by one with mod podge, and once you're done, put a coat of mod podge on top to seal everything in.

4) ROSE VASE

•Styrofoam ball
•Fake flowers
•Scissors
•Candle holder
•Glue gun

Glue the styrofoam ball to the candle holder and cut the stems of the fake flowers until a little piece is still left, and glue that to the styrofoam ball, and keep on building up until the ball is all filled.

5) DOILY BOWL

•Doily
•Balloon
•Mod Podge
•Sponge brush
•Fake candle

Put mod podge around half of your balloon to be safe and put the doily on the glued part. Pop the balloon with a sharp object once you're done and put a fake candle in the inside. It is a cute way of having a new, unique lamp like object.
